During the summer, I cooked a lot of avocados on the grill. Unfortunately, it’s gotten a little too chilly to fire up the grill so I was left to find an alternative way to duplicate this. The major upside to doing these on the grill is getting an awesome smoky flavor; however, they are still really good cooked in the toaster oven or stove. They are extremely simple and more filling than you’d expect. Before you start, preheat your toaster oven (or stove) to 450 degrees.
All you need is some shredded Parmesan cheese, avocados, and Tabasco sauce:
Cut your avocados in half and remove the pitt:
Using a fork, poke some holes into the avocados:
Add Tabasco sauce:
Add Parmesan cheese:
Put your avocados in a cooking pan and put in your toaster oven:
Watch them closely so that the cheese doesn’t burn. Also, you could cook them at a lower temperature for about 10 minutes and then broil them to toast the cheese on the top. I dont do that, but you need to do what works for you. Here’s what they should / could look like when your done:
What a great idea! I’ve never thought of grilling or baking avocados, but what a great, healthy snack!
i agree! let me know how yours turn out or if you have any questions.
That sounds like a fun thing to try. I never know what to do with avocados 😛
yeah, we love them for a light dinner meal. the saltiness of the parmesan really brings it together nicely too.
I eat avocados with a pinch of sea salt. LOVE avocados and will have to try this method. Sounds wonderful!
I actually added a pinch of salt to the avocados before putting on the cheese. I also put habenaros on top of one of them… it’s spicy but a great flavor.

Yum. Can’t go wrong with avocados 🙂 not sure if you received this yet, but I have nominated you for the Liebster award http://thewindykitchen.wordpress.com/2012/10/11/the-liebster-blog-award/
We have several avocado trees and I never heard of doing this. It looks delicious!
If you try it, let me know how they turn out. Also, I’m interested in those avocado trees that you have. How many years from planting them did it take to get fruit? Actually I have a lot of questions now that I think more about it…
Wish I’d thought of that! Brilliant!
Wow these look extra delicious, I may have to make these really really soon. Have you ever tried sprinkling bacon pieces on top to get that smoky flavour? I wish I wasn’t vegetarian sometimes just so I could eat some bacon. Mm.
That looks delicious! Two (three with the hot sauce!) of my favorite things together!!
Hi, I just wanted to thank you for visiting. I love the idea of stuffing and baking avocados!
Yeah, they are one of my favorite dishes. So easy and very tasty!
Hi! Thanks for following my blog. This recipe looks great. I have never tried avocados any way other than cold/in a salad. Can’t wait to see what else you post. Thanks again!
thanks! I’m no “pro” by any means but I enjoy experiment with new/different things in the kitchen. Hopefully you can try some avocados in different settings and see what you think 🙂
Have to try this!
Let me know how it goes – hope it turns out well for you! 🙂
